We Are Tea - Review*

Anyone that knows me well or reads my blog knows that I am a lover of all different kinds of tea. Whether that be black tea, earl grey or green – I am happy to try any new flavours that I come across. I was recently contacted by a brand called We Are Tea, who asked me if I wanted to try out some of their teas, of course I was happy to oblige.

We Are Tea are an independent award winning tea company based in Ladbroke Grove. This ethical company was set up by a husband and wife team Spence and Suzy. Their philosophy is simple, to ethically source exceptional whole leaf teas and hand pack them here in the UK. They focus on design, innovation and collaborations to bring their tea to a new range of people. They even created a bespoke blend for their chari-tea partner, Contact the Elderly.

I was lucky enough to receive some boxes of Sencha Green Tea and Earl Grey Supreme Black Tea. These boxes of 15 are a reasonable £2.99 each. I love green tea so I was keen to try this one out first. I was really impressed by the quality of the teabag for a start which is made from biodegradable corn starch, and this brewed up like a dream. You can also buy this in loose leaf if you prefer. The Green Tea is full of super antioxidants so you feel really good drinking this. It's smooth and has a delicious flavour to it. This green leaf from the Anhui Province of Eastern China is a store-cupboard essential in my opinion.

I also received a few different samples so it would have been rude not to try them out. The Sleep Super Tea intrigued me the most and as I sometimes have trouble falling asleep I thought I would give this one a go. This ultimate night time blend contains chamomile, lavender, rose and holy basil. Combined, all of these ingredients are the perfect combination for a great nights sleep. I felt calm and relaxed after drinking this and it even helped to aid my digestion so I could sleep comfortably. I also found the chamomile and peppermint teas were great ones to have before bed as well as I felt relaxed and calm. There isn't anything a good brew can't fix.

Finally, I tried out the Earl Grey Supreme Black tea, which also comes in loose form if you prefer. The aroma is gorgeous, I love Earl Grey and this one from We are Tea did not disappoint. It has actually received 4 great taste awards so you know it's going to be tasty. Milk is optional but I prefer to take this tea black, and really appreciate all of the amazing flavours such as Keemun, Darjeeling, Ceylon & Assam.

If you’d like more information, or to try some of these teas for yourself then please head over to the We Are Tea website. They offer free UK delivery on orders over £20. In addition to independent retailers, find these teas in Morrison’s, Holland & Barret and Ocado.

If you're a tea lover, or know someone who is then I highly recommend this brand. The boxes would be ideal for hampers or stocking fillers this Christmas. I also enjoyed taking the Tea Consultation to see which tea would suit me best, so feel free to find out what your perfect tea would be!

Pure Chimp Mint Matcha Green Tea Review*

I am a big lover of Green Tea so when I was given the opportunity to review some Mint Matcha Green Tea from Pure Chimp I couldn’t wait to give it a go. Pure Chimp make their green tea the traditional Japanese way with real Matcha leaves and this tea also contains mint leaves and a touch of natural Stevia. I have been advised that some people find this too sweet and they are changing the formula soon but I personally thought the taste was just right.

Matcha is a  more powerful version of Green tea if you like and is great for your metabolism and giving your body a boost. Matcha has been said to have positive effects on your mood, memory and focus. It contains more antioxidants than superfoods goji and blueberries. The mint also helps to settle your stomach so is a great choice in the evening before bed and lifts your well-being. I have been drinking this morning and night by adding half a teaspoon to hot water. You can also drink this cold if you prefer but I love a nice warming mug of tea. Don’t let the vibrant green colour put you off, I really enjoyed the taste.

This Mint Matcha Green Tea costs just £11.95 for 50g of product and works out at 24p a serving. 5% of their profits go to charity which I think is fantastic. Overall I am really enjoying adding this tea to my daily routine. It is said that it can be great for weight loss and alongside healthy eating I am already noticing the benefits and I am feeling much less bloated than I was just 2 weeks ago. This is a fantastic product and one I will definitely repurchase when I run out. Head over to Pure Chimp to see the full range of products.

Adagio Teas - Artisan Tea Review*

I am a big tea drinker. I love herbal teas, green teas, English teas and loose leaf teas. I have some firm favourites with the brands I tend to buy but when I got the chance to try Adagio's range of delicious Artisan teas, this knocked a few of them off the top spot. Adagio very kindly send me a variety of their hand picked teas which are sourced directly from origin alongside the most exciting gadget I now own, the aptly named IngenuiTEA teapot.

The ingenuiTEA teapot is life changing and I’m not exaggerating. This is the best thing I own for brewing loose leaf tea in a hurry. You simply add your leaves to the pot, pour in hot water and let it brew. I didn’t overfill my pot as I didn’t want to then cause a spillage when pouring the tea into a mug but this holds plenty enough for more than one serving.

Once brewed, you place the teapot on top of a standard mug which triggers a valve at the bottom of the teapot to allow your water to flow into the mug. This fits regular mugs that are 9.5cm in diameter. I have a couple of Cath Kidston mugs and these are slightly too large for the device so take that into consideration when choosing which mug to use. The mesh filter in the mug retains the leaves and you are left with a smooth cup of tea with no bits floating in it. The IngenuiTEA is so easy to clean and can even be placed in the dishwasher. This is the best invention ever for drinking delicious tea brewed fresh from tea leaves and costs only £16 for the 470ml pot.

My favourite tea from all the samples I was sent was the cocomint green tea. I love green tea naturally but the addition of mint and chocolate really brings a unique blend of flavours to this tea. The mint makes this tea so refreshing but it’s not over the top and the hint of chocolate isn’t too sweet that it’s overpowering. The mix of flavours is just right. Served with a chocolate digestive makes for the perfect brew in the evening and settled my stomach before bed.

I also received samples of the Earl grey moonlight tea and the Berry blast which are familiar flavours to me and I knew I would also like them. The earl grey moonlight blend is best served black and has delicious creamy vanilla flavours. It’s unlike any earl grey I have had before but still has the traditional citrus undertones. I couldn’t get enough of this tea and I have friends who love traditional earl grey who really liked this when I served it to them and even preferred it to the standard tea. The Berry blast tea is a herbal tea and being a lover of fruit teas I knew I was going to like this one. This herbal tea is caffeine free and is great if you have a sweet tooth. The fruity flavours are all natural and there is no added sugar or sweeteners. The flavours are derived from blackcurrants, cranberries, raspberries elderberries, bilberries, hibiscus flowers and rose hip peels.

I also received two tea samples that I had never come across before, the Green pekoe and the Jasmine yin hao. The green pekoe is as its name states, a green tea. The word ‘pekoe’ refers to the size of the leaf but doesn’t affect the flavour. This green tea comes out quite pale and has a very mellow taste. I think it would be perfect for people just starting to get into green tea as it doesn’t have an overpowering strong flavour that can be off-putting to newcomers of green tea. The Jasmine yin hao tea is deeply perfumed with a strong floral aroma. This is unlike any tea I have ever tried before and I am glad I got to sample it as it’s opened up my eyes to the many tea flavours available out there.

Adagio also sell a range of accessories such as a tea chest to store all of your teas and also glass jars perfect for displaying and storing loose leaves.

Overall I am really impressed by the range of teas available at Adagio. If loose leaf tea isn’t your think you can buy all of the flavours in tea bag form too. If you’re a tea lover I urge you to check Adagio out as there really is something for everyone. Sample sizes are available from £2 in all of the flavours so you can try 10 cups before you commit to a larger order. The more you buy, the cheaper it works out per cup. They also provide free UK delivery on orders over £30, so stock up now!

JADU Tea London Review*

I love tea, I am definitely a tea person and there aren't many flavours that I don’t like. Green tea is one of my favourites so when JADU Tea offered me the chance to review some of their teas I was so excited to experience the flavours of a brand I had never heard of before.

I received some loose leaf China Green Tea. The packaging was simply divine, it is so well presented that it would be the perfect gift for a tea lover. The box is made with navy blue Royal Suede and embossed with the JADU Tea logo in gold. It looks fat to nice to hide in a cupboard – this is a tea I am proud to display on show.

The leaves have been carefully  rolled and are full of antioxidants. The taste is so fresh and light and much nicer than the usual standard supermarket blend green teas that I buy. This Chinese green tea is best served without milk. Infuse 3g of tea per 200ml for 2 minutes in 80°C water. Thankfully Kim (Romanov’s Views) bought me an adorable pug tea infuser for Christmas which holds the perfect amount of tea leaves for the perfect brew. You can purchase 12 JADU Tea Envelopes for £16 or 100g of the loose leaf tea for £21.50 on their website.

JADU Tea also very kindly sent me some individual teabags in English Breakfast and Mademoiselle Grey which I popped in my handbag and took to work with me. The English Breakfast tea was smooth and flavourful and I prefer to drink this wish a dash of milk. Perfect for the mornings, this blend was everything I look for in a morning cuppa.

The Mademoiselle Grey is a flirtatious take on your classic Earl Grey and was absolutely delicious. The flavours revolve around the citrus blends and can be served with or without milk. I prefer to drink this tea black to really enjoy the different aromas.

I also received two large sachets of the Apple Lemon Ginger tea and the Vanilla Rose Green which was my favourite of the two. Both of these were loose leaf so I had to use my infuser but I really enjoyed the flavours of both of these teas. The Vanilla Rose Green stood out to me because not only do I love green tea, the subtle undertones of vanilla and sweet honey really made this a special drink - one that I wanted to drink over and over.

Overall I really enjoyed the teas I received and would definitely repurchase for myself or as a gift for any tea lovers.

Are you a tea fan? Head over to JADU Tea London and check out their amazing range. They ship internationally so it doesn't matter where in the world you are.
